CII opinion sought on temple fund release: Qadri

Federal Religious and Minorities Affairs Minister Noorul Haq Qadri has said the Council of Islamic Ideology’s opinion has been sought for getting funds from the national exchequer in connection with construction of a Hindu temple in Islamabad.
The government will value of the top authority’s opinion for the purpose, the minister said, adding that a debate about the issue is going on the social media.
“Islam, Sunnah, and the Constitution of Pakistan guarantee minorities rights and Islamic history has a number of such examples,” he recalled
The government will remove hurdle in the way to let minorities perform their rituals freely, he said adding that the construction on the temple has been stopped because of some issues.
However, he said the government has been waiting for the CII opinion and the issue would be resolved. No decision would be made against Islam and Sunnah, he said.
