Over the issue of overbilling, Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi sought data from all electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) to provide relief to protected consumers.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the issue of overbilling was reviewed during a meeting held at the Ministry of Interior chaired by Mohsin Naqvi on Monday.

In the meeting, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials briefed the meeting on the matter. The interior minister expressed serious concern over including protected consumers in the non-protected category.

Mohsin Naqvi tasked FIA directors with gathering all evidence within three days. He also ordered FIA directors across Pakistan to collect Prodata System records.

The minister instructed the Additional Director General of FIA North to personally visit Peshawar, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad to assess the situation and collect data.

He said a comprehensive report of all evidence will be presented to the Prime Minister. He emphasised the importance of addressing the injustices faced by protected consumers and holding those responsible accountable.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Secretary of the Interior, Additional DG FIA Headquarters, Additional Secretary of the Interior, Additional DG FIA North, and other officials. All FIA directors participated in the meeting via video link.
