Lahore High Court has issued notice for contempt of court to Chief Executive Officer of Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) and sought reply in an overbilling case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The Lesco had sent Rs144,000 electricity bill of 126 units to a citizen. Justice Shahid Karim heard the petition of the citizen Gul Shad Masih on Wednesday.

The petitioner’s lawyer submitted that the court ordered Chief Executive Lesco to correct the bill within three days and despite the passage of four months, they did not follow the court decision.

Failure to comply with court orders is contempt of court and non-compliance with court orders is a cognizable offence as well, the petitioner took stand in application.

The petitioner requested the court that contempt of court action should be taken against Chief Executive Lesco for not following the court decision.
