The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered the government of Balochistan to submit details of the properties of PTI stalwart and former National Assembly (NA) deputy speaker Qasim Suri, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of the appeal filed by Suri against the decision given by the election tribunal, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa also directed the provincial government to check the immigration record of the ex-NA deputy speaker.

A four-member larger bench of the SC, headed by the CJP, heard the case.

Similarly, the apex court asked the federal government and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to trace the whereabouts of Suri.

The chief justice remarked that the former deputy speaker did not appear in the court despite summons. “Suri has now disappeared after getting a ‘stay’ from the SC,” he said, and questioned, “Does he think that there would be no further hearing of the case after the ‘stay’?

He rejected a no-trust motion by making an excuse that a resolution had been passed, the CJP said. “By doing so, he committed an unconstitutional act.”

Addressing Suri’s lawyer Naeem Bukhari, the chief justice asked him whether he had contact with his client. The latter replied in negative.

“You have not been able to bring your client with you. Tell him that the SC would not tolerate this attitude anymore,” Justice Isa said.

Later, the court adjourned the case’s hearing for an indefinite time period.
