A police constable was martyred and one robber got killed during an encounter in Phalia, Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab, 24News HD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

As per details, the police raided a house in Mohalla Darbar Bahawal Sher on the information about the hiding of robbers. The accused started firing on the police. A constable Imtiaz Ahmed was martyred on the spot while a robber Iftikhar got killed in the counter firing by the police. Another constable Zulqarnain also got injured as a result of firing by the robbers.

According to the police, DPO Mandi Bahauddin Saeed Anwar Kangra reached on the spot after getting information. A heavy contingent of police reached on the spot as well on call of the DPO and cordoned off the area. The dead bodies of the robber and police cop shifted to Tehsil Headquarter Hospital.
