Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro Wednesday won the Senate by-polls on a seat which had fallen vacant following the disqualification of Faisal Vawda, former federal minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for water resources.
According to the report broadcasted by 24NewsHD TV channel, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro bagged the Senate seat by gaining 99 votes out of 101, as two votes were rejected.
It is to be noted here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had disqualified PTI’s federal minister Faisal Vawda in February last after he was found guilty of concealing his US nationality while submitting his nomination papers for taking part in in 2018 general elections.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated the Senator elect and tweeted: “Congratulations, Senator elect, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.”
