SHC bars ECP from counting of 3 reserved seats’ votes during presidential polls on SIC request

Sindh High Court (SHC) hearing a petition filed against Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) decision about reserved seats, directed that till the further court order, votes of new candidates elected on SIC reserved seats should not be counted during polling for presidential elections which will be held on Saturday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Sindh High Court also issued notices to Election Commission of Pakistan and other stakeholders involved in the process. Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) on Friday moved Sindh High Court seeking stay order on ECP’s directives which denied 3 reserved seats in Sindh Assembly to Sunni Ittehad Council and distributed seats to other political parties.


Earlier, SIC chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza had filed the petition in Lahore High Court against ECP’s decision regarding reserved seats.
