Punjab govt to impose smart lockdown in Lahore

The Punjab government has decided to enforce “smart lockdown” in the provincial capital Lahore to curtail spread of the ‘second wave’ of coronavirus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The areas include: Anarkali, Mozang, Gulshan Ravi, DHA Phase-IV and Sector-L, Askari-11, Cavalry Ground and DHA A-Block.

HBFC Society B-Block, New Muslim Town’s C-Block, Raza Block, Sikandar Block, Umar Block while Tipu Block, and Baber Block of Garden Town are also in the list of smart lockdown.

The enforcement of the smart lockdown will be implemented in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal said the government took a smart lockdown decision to curtail the second wave of COVID-19.

He said trade associations will ensure mask wearing in the markets as per the smart lockdown strategy.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said smart lockdown will be imposed in all those areas where COVID-19 cases are emerging and increasing.

The decision has been taken in the Punjab Cabinet’s Anti-COVID Committee held on Monday. In the meeting, political and administrative leadership of the province participated.
