Protests in Islamabad caused Rs190 billion daily losses to economy: Finance Minister Aurangzeb

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that during three 3-day of protests by PTI workers and leaders, national economy suffered over Rs190 billion losses per day while more than 8 lakh people got affected from the blockage of roads and suspension of cellular service and internet, reported 24NewesHD TV channel.


Addressing a press briefing in Islamabad on Tuesday, Finance Minister has urged the masses to shut the elements who wanted to wreak havoc with the national economy.


He said that the closure of business caused irreparable damage to the economy. Finance Minister said due to the special efforts by the government, the inflation rate has come down to single digits.


He claimed that the government was planning to slash more interest rate. Aurangzeb said the government was in talks with power distribution companies regarding cut in power units prices.


He lamented that the protestors have hit the power company’s installation while government was in talks with this company regarding cut in power units prices.


He said that unluckily engineers of few IPPs, who were in talks with the Power Ministry regarding cut in power prices, were targeted.
