Cotton and other crops grown over hundreds of acres of land were inundated while the supply of water to canals of Bhakkar and Layyah also stopped after a 30-feet wide breach developed in Thal Canal near Qureshianwala in Bhakkar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The irrigation department officials, on the other hand, have said that it may take four to five hours to plug the breach.

They have further said that the release of water from the canal has been stopped at Kalabagh so that work on plugging the breach could start.
