Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz, who had gone to Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday to attend the function held to mark the start of the nutrition programme for kids, while returning to Lahore gave people a surprise when she stopped her car at a stall, sat on a charpoy and drank tea there, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The people, present on the occasion, showed her their electricity bills and thanked her for providing them relief by announcing a Rs14 per unit cut in the power rates.
They prayed to The Almighty Allah for the well-being of the chief minister.
Speaking to the people, Maryam said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif knew fully well the agony people had to go through because of inflated bills and was quite worried. “I and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are taking steps to provide you further relief in bills,” she said, adding, “Already prices of items of daily use have come down. And we are trying to provide you more relief.”
