Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the secretary housing to abolish the Pakistan Public Works Department (PPWD), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The prime minister has also sought a report consisting of proposals to abolish the department within one week.

The prime minister has said there are countless examples of corruption and irregularities in PPWD.

He is of the view that the provincial governments need to be proactive in development works.

It is worth-mentioning here that the PPWD is a subsidiary department of the Ministry of Housing.
