Dr Hasan Murad School of Management, part of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), recently hosted a significant visit by Ms Esther Perez Ruiz, the International Monetary Fund’s Resident Representative in Pakistan.

During her visit, UMT's President, Ibrahim Murad, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Ruiz and highlighted Pakistan's vast potential. He expressed confidence in the country's capacity to generate substantial revenue through its mining and agricultural sectors.

“We can generate tens of billions of dollars in mining and agriculture,” he remarked.

Ms Ruiz shared insights on the economic projections for 2024, noting the IMF's expectation for a moderate economic rebound along with a tight fiscal policy.

She emphasized that digitalization, private sector-led growth, and diversification are crucial for the economic recovery of the country.

She also mentioned that regional conflicts would play a significant role in shaping the economic outlook for the region.

The event underscores UMT’s ongoing commitment to engaging with global financial leaders to discuss and influence economic strategies, research and policies.
