Four people fell prey to the custom of so-called “honour killing” in separate incidents at Mardan and Mandi Bahauddin, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Friday.

In the first incident, a married girl and a boy were killed at their home at Bakri Banda in UC Maho Dheri of Mardan.

According to police, the girl was recently married to a man who is currently in Dubai for work. The victim boy and the dead girl’s husband are first cousins.

On the other hand, a brother shot dead his sister and her lover in the Phalia area of Mandi Bahauddin within Qadirabad Police Station’s precincts.

The double murder was committed as Ehtisham arrived at the other victim’s home to meet.

Hundreds of women and girls fall prey to such killings in Pakistan every year, as they are seen to embody family honour.

In one such incident last month, even a 40 days old son of a girl wasn’t spared in the Baqir Shah area in Alipur tehsil of Muzaffargarh.

The only “crime” committed by Aiman was that she had left her home to marry the man of her choice about one and a half years ago. Her brothers – Awais, Ahmad, Qayyum and Farooq – started a hunt for her.

They were able to trace her whereabouts in Kot Addu, a tehsil in the same district, after which they kidnapped the two victims and buried them after committing the double murder.
