The Punjab Food Authority’s meat safety and vigilance team foiled an attempt to supply of 1,000kg meat of sick emaciated and dead chicken in Multan here on Friday, 24News HD TV reported. 

PFA also seized 19,114 kg of prepared fat on Mati Til road in Multan, the authority sealed the fat rendering unit. 

The owner of the production unit was arrested after registering a First Information Report (FIR) at Alpa police station.

According to PFA officials, the record of fat supply by the owners was not clarified. The dead chickens were hidden in a secret place, unhealthy fats were to be made from their impurities.

Director General (DG) Punjab Food Authority Rafaqat Ali Niswana said that open oil is prepared from fat and supplied to hotels.

He has appealed to citizens to slaughter a healthy chicken in front of their eyes for getting fresh chicken meat. 

He further said that people should check the quality of food before purchasing as well as its good quality and ratified products from reliable stores.

We will not spare those who do disgusting things in the name of food, he added.
