The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday dismissed Khawar Maneka's review petition to lift the one-month deadline for the Iddat case decision.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, IHC Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the reserved verdict, rejecting Khawar Maneka's appeal.
During the hearing, Maneka's assistant lawyer requested a brief adjournment as his senior lawyer Rizwan Abbasi was engaged in the Supreme Court.
On this, Bushra Bibi's lawyer Salman Akram Raja told the court that Maneka's lawyer had already told the court in writing that he was going on a one-month-long visit to Iraq and Iran for pilgrimage.
Salman Akram Raja also pointed out that today is July 9, and the deadline for the decision is July 12.
After this argument, Justice Hassan Aurangzeb said the case would be taken up again at 11:30 am, and if Rizwan Abbasi arrived, his arguments would be heard. If Maneka's lawyer did not appear, the decision would be made based on the record, the judge said.
After the recess, IHC Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the reserved decision and dismissed Khawar Maneka's review petition.
