The Punjab government has asked the Centre to withdraw Pakistan Army personnel from the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

In a letter to the federal government, Punjab home department said that since the law and order situation in the province was better than before; therefore, troops were no more required.

Worsening law and order situation in the province following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan on May 9 had prompted the government of Punjab to ask Centre to send troops in order to rein in violent PTI workers and supporters.
