Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Vice-President Asif Sakhi on Friday demanded of the incumbent government to immediately withdraw recently imposed port charges ranging from Rs4 to Rs8 million on each container loaded with chemical used for industrial purpose, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He said that the government already directed concerned authorities to clear the containers loaded with chemical used for industry but on the other hand imposed Rs4 to Rs8 million as port charges on each container. He termed the imposition of these heavy charges as illegal and without any valid reason.

Asif Sakhi said that due to imposition of heavy port charges, production charges will definitely increase.

He said that current situation arose after Ministry of Petroleum issued a letter. He urged the government to take business-friendly decisions that will help to solve issues being faced by the industry.
