Legendary Urdu newscaster Taskeen Zafar passes away

Legendary voice of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television newscaster Taskeen Zafar passed away in Rawalpindi Sunday after a brief illness.
She was 67. Her Namaz-e-Janaza wa offered at at Eidgah, Lalkurti in Rawalpindi.
Born in Rawalpindi in 1957, Taskeen Zafar's broadcasting career spanned over four decades. She joined Radio Pakistan as an announcer in 1980.
Taskeen Zafar also hosted programs at Radio Pakistan's News and Current Affairs Channel.
She also remained associated with Pakistan Television where she read news and hosted music programs.
In recognition of her meritorious services, Taskeen Zafar was presented Presidential Pride of Performance award last year.
Taskeen Zafar's eloquent voice and unique style of reading news will always resonate in the minds and hearts of Radio listeners.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of senior television and radio newscaster Taskeen Zafar and paid tribute to her for rendering unmatchable services. He also offered his heartfelt condolences to the family of Taskeen Zafar.
He said the death of Tasin Zafar is an irreparable loss to the radio and television industry. The speaker prayed to Allah Almighty to raise the status of the deceased and patience for the family members.
Deputy Speaker Syed Mir Ghulam Mustafa Shah also expressed grief over the death of senior radio newscaster Taskeen Zafar.
The Deputy Speaker expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased.
