ECP briefed on security ahead of Punjab, KP polls

A meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was held on Friday with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja in the chair to review the security situation in both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) ahead of provincial assemblies’ elections on April 30, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told 24News that intelligence agencies’ officials namely of ISI, IB and CTD gave to the meeting a detailed briefing on the security situation in two provinces.
On the other hand, the ECP has invited secretary interior and DG military operations to come to its office on Tuesday (March 14, 2023) for a briefing.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Haji Ghulam Ali will also visit the ECP office on Tuesday for consultations over setting the elections date in the province.
Sources further said that it would be after these briefings that the ECP would decide on what kind of security should be provided during polling in the province.
