Former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said on Friday that the party’s opponents wanted to win the elections by spreading fear, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

While addressing PTI workers and supporters from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Imran said that the time had come to take a stand against the rulers. “Everyone should get ready to take part in jihad for real independence,” he added.

Imran went on to say that the PTI leaders were facing obstacles in their election campaigns despite the announcement of the election schedule. “So far 80 cases have been registered against me,” Imran said, adding, “They are trying to spread fear to win the elections.”

He said that the nation knew that Arshad Sharif was innocent. “They do such terrible things to a journalist whose conscience cannot be bought,” he wondered.

PTI chief further said that a specially-abled child, Zille Shah, was brutally tortured to death.

The former premier slammed the incumbent government, saying that it destroyed the country’s economy.

On the other hand, he added, corrupt politicians, part of the present government, managed to get a clean chit in corruption cases worth Rs100 billion.

He regretted that while on one hand the nation was getting poor, the rulers were getting richer day by day.

Imran said that one path was leading towards slavery and destruction while another towards real independence.

He alleged that Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif were looting the country for the last 30 years and it was the right time to stand against all of them.

Imran said, “Disqualify me or arrest me, we have won the match.”
