Another residential building collapsed in Karachi

A child died and six injured in a four-storey residential building collapsed near Korangi Crossing Allahwala Town, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

The TV channel reported several people may be under the rubble of the building. Sindh Rangers arrived at the scene and carried out the rescue operations with rescue teams. Karachi Police Spokesperson said heavy contingents of police launched immediate rescue operations with the help of police were removing the injured from the rubble as soon as the building collapsed.

The injured including Ayub, Nishat, Nazish, Rani and Raja shifted to Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, TV channel reported. 

Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) officials said, SBCA's technical committee was on the spot and the residential building was constructed on the model called cutting china. The multi-storey residential building was located on a trust plot ST-12 and constructed on the one side of a playground.

Karachi Administrator Iftikhar Ali Shalawani said the cause of the collapse of the affected building will come to light after an investigation. 

Iftikhar Shalawani talking to media persons said all dilapidated buildings are a threat to human lives and there are many three to five storey buildings constructed in various areas of the port city with only permission of ground plus one construction.

He vowed action would be taken against illegal setting up of additional floors.

Head of Organization (MQM Pakistan) Rehabilitation Committee Dr. Farooq Sattar expressed concern over the collapse of a residential building in Korangi, Karachi.  Dr. Farooq Sattar demanded full investigation of such collapse incidents.
