Poverty-stricken man axes wife, seven children to death in Alipur

A stone-hearted poverty-stricken man murdered his wife and seven children in a gruesome incident in Alipur Tehsil of Muzaffargarh District on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The man, a tailor by profession, axed his whole family to death in Mudwala area located in Saddar Police Station limits of Alipur.

The police later arrested the accused who was limping by one leg and also has mental issues. The police also recovered the murder weapon from him

The police said preliminary investigation indicated that Sajjad Hussain has massacred his family due to poverty.

The ages of the children were between six months to seven years, the police said.

After receiving information, DPO Alipur Syed Hasnain Haider, local SHO and several police teams amassed at the crime scene.

Punjab CM seeks report

While expressing deep grief over the tragedy in Alipur, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a report from the Punjab inspector general of police.

In a condolence message, the chief minister prayed for the victims.
