Unelected Hafeez Shaikh gets status of federal minister

Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Dr Hafeez Shaikh has become the first unelected federal minister in the present federal cabinet as he was given the status of a federal minister on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

President Dr Arif Alvi administered the oath of a federal minister to Dr Hafeez Shaikh at a ceremony in Aiwan-i-Sadr in Islamabad.

Several federal ministers attended the oath-taking ceremony at the Aiwan-i-Sadr.

Earlier, during the previous PML-N government Miftah Ismael was also given the status of a federal minister though he was not an elected member of the PML-N.
