The successful military diplomacy pursued by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, which prioritized peace not only within the country but also in the region, has laid down the foundation of the country’s economic prosperity and bright future, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.


The COAS held important meetings with the ambassadors of countries which rid the country of different financial issues.


Thanks to the army chief’s successful diplomacy, Pakistan’s ties with China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) improved in different sectors.


His tours to different world countries also played an important part in the restoration of the country’s economy.


For instance, during his most important visit to Saudi Arabia, General Asim discussed with the Saudi officials enhancing cooperation between the two countries in different fields.


He also succeeded in convincing the Saudi investors to invest their capital in Pakistan.


Similarly, during his visit to China, the COAS held important meetings with the China’s military commanders the purpose of which was to ensure peace in the region besides further cementing ties between the two countries.


Likewise, during his visit to Iran, the army chief, in his interactions with the country’s president, the supreme commander and senior military officials, discussed strengthening ties between the two brotherly countries.


In Iran, he had a detailed discussion with the Iranian officials on the dangers posed to the stability of the two countries, and resulted in an agreement that both Iran and Pakistan should cooperate with each other for increasing border security.


During the COAS’s visit to Uzbekistan, the discussions centered round enhancing defence ties besides intelligence sharing.


General Asim, during his visit to Azerbaijan, held some important meetings.


At those meetings, Azerbaijan’s officials renewed their pledge to support Pakistan Army and agreed with the COAS on further expanding mutual relations between the two countries.


In a meeting with the 15th Commander of the US’s Central Command, Michael Erik Kurilla, both exchanged views on increasing cooperation in the defence sector.  


The US commander praised the army chief for his efforts to eliminate militancy and ensure peace in the region.


In his interaction with China’s vice premier He Lifeng, some important decisions were taken on increasing trade between the two countries besides expediting work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).


Similarly, in his meeting with German Army’s Chief Lieutenant General Alfons Mais, he discussed with him expanding defence relations between Pakistan and Germany.


The general also praised Pakistan’s efforts in war against terrorism.


Likewise, both Saudi General Faed bin Hamid and the army chief, in their meeting, renewed their pledge to further strengthen defence relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.


Oman’s Royal Army’s Major General Matar bin Salim bin Rashid Al-Balushi in his interaction with the chief of army staff praised Pakistan Army’s sacrifices in war on terror.


Similarly, Sri Lankan Army’s commander, in his meeting with the COAS, was all praise for Pakistan Army’s professionalism.


Saudi Arabia’s land forces Commander Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mutair, too, in his meeting with the army chief, praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region.


Only recently, US’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West had extensive discussions with the senior leadership of Pakistan Army on banned TTP and the repatriation of Afghan immigrants from Pakistan.


Later he had said, “The United States stands with Pakistan in war against terrorism.”


General Asim’s tour to the United States is of strategic importance as during his stay in the country he would meet with the American military leadership and government officials.
