Qatar will be shareholder of private LNG terminal at Port Qasim

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi held a videoconference with Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi along with his team where the Qatar minister announced to become a shareholder of the private LNG terminal at the Port Qasim, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

A formal signing of the agreement between the two parties—Qatar Energy and Port Qasim—will be held in the upcoming visit of the Qatari minister to Pakistan at the end of January.

Secretary Maritime Affairs, Secretary Petroleum, Chairman OGRA and other relevant stakeholders participated in the Videocon.

Minister Al-Kaabi, who is also the President and CEO of QatarEnergy apprised the participants that QatarEnergy fully supports and will be a shareholder in one of the private sector LNG Terminals being set up at Port Qasim.

Both sides agreed to address all outstanding issues pertaining to the development of LNG terminals and finalize the FID by the end of January.

Minister Al-Kaabi will visit Pakistan at the signing of the implementation agreement. Minister Al-Kaabi also reiterated Qatar’s support to Pakistan in the LNG sector.
