Punjab govt to construct Tourism Corridor on GT Road

Government of Punjab (GoP) planning to construct Tourism Corridor from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagha Border on GT Road with new expanded carpeted road, model structure fence and modern stairs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Communication and Works Department of Punjab already started initial work on the project. An amount of Rs3.28 billion will be spent on completion of the project.
This project was also come under discussion in with Apex Committee meeting. Punjab government already allocated an amount of Rs1 billion for the project during current fiscal year’s budget.
Construction work already started on GT Road. Beautiful side walls will be constructed on both sides of GT Road to Wagha Border.
The new beautiful standing walls will be constructed on both sides of GT Road. This wall will highlight cultural heritage of Lahore.
Tourists who will arrived in Pakistan from India will avail facilities of this corridor. Prior to this project, GT road was on worse condition due to encroachments and roads which also become a security risk.
