TV anchor Ayesha Jahanzeb physically tortured by husband in Lahore

Prominent TV anchorperson Ayesha Jahanzeb was physically tortured by her husband at gunpoint in Lahore’s cantonment area on Wednesday, resultantly she received severe face injuries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

After the incident, the TV anchorperson reached Sarwar Road police station and registered a case against her husband, leading to the arrest of her husband, Haris.

According to the first information report, Ayesha Jahanzeb alleged that she was subjected to violence by her husband at gunpoint. After a medical examination and consultation, Ayesha registered a case against her husband Haris under the provisions of torture and murder. Ayesha told the police that after manhandling she sustained serious injuries, which prompted her to seek legal recourse, she stated. Ayesha claimed that her husband often tortured her

On Ayesha's request, the police took swift action and arrested her husband Haris. Following his arrest, Haris was produced before a judicial magistrate, who approved a physical remand for two days.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from IG Punjab. In her message, CM Maryam said that there was no room for violence against women. The CM ordered that all necessary medical facilities should be provided to Ayesha Jahanzeb.
