Reprimanding the police officials for making no progress in the missing persons’ cases, the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed them to submit to the court a report on the next hearing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

During the hearing of cases filed by relatives of these persons, Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto said people in this country had been missing for years now, and you people submitted to us a paper or two every week.

When the SSP investigation told him that police had sought a report from the concerned departments in this connection, the judge made it clear to him that he wanted to see progress in the report to be presented by him at the next hearing.

Expressing displeasure over the performance of the home department, Justice Phulpoto asked, “Do you think we will be satisfied with the same report you present on every hearing?”

Telling the police officials that he did not want to listen to excuses now, the judge ordered them to recover the missing persons and present them in the court. “If there is no progress on this front, we will summon secretary interior every other day for questioning,” Justice Phulpoto warned.

He wondered that those responsible for their disappearances did not have a fear of God in their hearts.

On this occasion, the court ordered immediate production of Ghulam Nabi, Sharif and other citizens.

At the same time, the high court also ordered the immediate formation of a new Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on missing persons.

Directing the police officials to present a progress report on the next hearing, the SHC adjourned furthering hearing until April 15.
