Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) Friday announced to hold a major meeting of all bar councils on March 16 to discuss the operation conducted by police at the parliament lodges last night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The PBC condemned the police torture on MPs including JUI-F leader Kamran Murtaza at the parliament lodges.
The bar said that the government should take strict action against perpetrators of violence against Kamran Murtaza and other MPs at the parliament lodges.
If the government does not take strict action against those responsible, the bar councils will come up with their own strategy, the PBC added.
As per the PBC, the legal community will also clarify its role for the protection of democracy in its upcoming Wednesday’s meeting.
Pakistan Bar Council also expressed its regret over the death of a newborn girl in Mianwali.
