After dengue and coronavirus, Lahore has got Congo virus to deal with. A man infected with Congo virus died at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital on Friday. 

A resident of Sheikhupura and a butcher by profession, Raza Ali had been under treatment at Mayo Hospital for five days. 

According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Secretary Muhammad Usman, people who came in contact with Raza Ali are being traced and 15 such people have been traced so far. Usman said that Ali caught virus during his contact with animals. 

Usman said that Congo virus is found in bugs found on animals’ skin, especially behind animals’ ears. He said that people suffering from Congo virus have symptoms such as high fever, headache or backache, nausea and bleeding from nose. He warned people against going close to animals unnecessarily. He said that people who take care of animals must take precautionary measures before going close to animals.
