England unveil squad for Test series against Pakistan

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has named a 17-strong squad for the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan, set to take place in October, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Tuesday.

This series is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) and will take place from October 7 to 28.

The England squad for the series includes two uncapped players: Brydon Carse of Durham and Jordan Cox of Essex.

Notably, spinners Rehan Ahmed and Jack Leach have also been recalled to the Test team.

Ben Stokes, England’s regular Test captain who was sidelined for the recent series against Sri Lanka due to an injury sustained during The Hundred, has been included in the squad.

His participation, however, will depend on his fitness closer to the start of the series.

Left-handed opener Zak Crawley, who is recovering from a thumb injury sustained while attempting a catch in the final Test against the West Indies, is also part of the squad.

England will enter the series with strong momentum, having recently secured series victories over the West Indies and Sri Lanka.

In contrast, Pakistan is coming off a disappointing two-match home series loss to Bangladesh, where they were defeated 2-0.

England last toured Pakistan in 2022, where they completed a clean sweep in a three-match Test series, leaving the home side with significant challenges.
