PCB goes easy on ‘fat-less’ Umar Akmal

February 12, 2020 09:02 PM

The Pakistan Cricket Board has concluded its proceedings into an alleged misconduct involving Umar Akmal during a fitness test.

According to a PCB statement, after listening to all the parties involved, it was established that the incident happened due to a misunderstanding.

After Umar Akmal offered his regrets for his actions, the PCB reprimanded him and also reminded him of his responsibilities as a senior cricketer.

The PCB said that the matter was now closed and the PCB and Umar Akmal will offer no further comments.

Umar Akmal had exposed himself completely and asked a trainer "where is the fat" during a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy.

The PCB showed a lenient approach this time towards the junior Akmal, who had exposed himself in frustration after failing to pass one of the fitness tests, and let him go with simple reprimand despite many predicting a ban may be imposed on him for next domestic tournament.

Fitness has been an issue with the Akmal brothers for several years now with Umar falling out with the PCB on the same grounds during Mickey Arthur's time as head coach.
