FIA allowed to arrest Shaukat Tarin: Rana Sanaullah

The government has allowed Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest former finance minister Shaukat Tarin in connection with the probe into his leaked audio calls, which were allegedly aimed at derailing the government’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi on Sunday, Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rana Sanaullah said that FIA after completing the investigation on the leaked audio of PTI leader Shaukat Tarin had sought permission from the Interior Ministry for arresting him.
“The FIA has decided to initiate legal proceedings against him for his alleged attempt to disrupt the IMF loan programme.”
Rana Sanaullah said Shaukat Tareen will be punished for what he did.
He said that the country is facing economic and security challenges and holding elections in the given circumstances is quite difficult.
“The ECP will submit a reply in the court and a way out will be found to hold elections, “he added.
The Interior Minister said that the PML-N and PPP used to blame each other in the past by mistake but later they realised that the real thief is Imran Khan and his wife who had stolen diamonds even.
“Imran Khan knows he will be arrested and will be disqualified.”
Rana Sanaullah reacted to the recent interview of Imran Khan, saying that he did many wrong things in today’s interview which was condemnable, adding that Imran Khan was doing a drama in Zaman Park.
“Imran Khan has turned out to be a political terrorist,” he added.
Shaukat Tarin, he said, got trapped due to Imran’s things. The Interior Minister said that all the state institutions were alert against the new wave of terrorism and all resources are being utilized to provide foolproof security to foreigners, especially Chinese citizens.
Talking about Sheikh Rashid, Sanaullah said that he was arrested due to his wrong statements because he never thought before speaking. The court also held that the registration of the case against Sheikh Rashid was on merit.
