27 people die, 146 injured in rain-related incidents in KP: PDMA

As many as 27 people have lost their lives and 146 have been injured due to rain/thunderstorm in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), besides death toll from the storm in Lakki Marwat, Karak and Bannu cities of KP, 69 homes have been partially damaged as well.
Secretary relief has said that the KP government is taking steps to provide relief goods to those affected by the natural calamity.
He has further said that the administrations of affected districts have been directed to make exact estimates about the losses caused.
He has informed that on the instructions of the provincial government, the PDMA has released Rs40 million for the affected people of district Bannu.
The secretary has said that the PDMA is in contact with the administrations of affected districts.
Heavy rain and windstorm that hit different parts of KP and Punjab on Saturday night resulted not only in the loss of lives but also in substantial damage to property.
The worst-hit areas in KP were Bannu, Lakki Marwat and Karak, the authority reported.
Rescue 1122, district administration and other authorities concerned were carrying out relief activities till last reports came in.
In Punjab, three sisters died in a rain-related incident in Khushab while a man was killed in Wazirabad.
The deceased were identified as 13-year-old Sattaran Bibi, 10-year-old Manzar Batul and seven-year-old Kashf Bibi. The tragedy took place in a Noorpur Thal village where the girls took refuge from heavy rain beside a wall that collapsed.
Two deaths were also reported in Wazirabad and Hafizabad. In Gujranwala district of Punjab, 10 people sustained injuries, local rescue officials said.
Three workers were injured as a factory shed fell on Aimanabad Road. Incidents of roof collapse left seven people injured, the rescuers added.
The roof of a house collapsed in Bhakkar injuring five people including women and children. Rescuers took the injured to a local hospital. Dounpour and storm hit Multan, Okara, Pakpattan, Sahiwal, and Dera Ghazi Khan too. Power cuts added to public problems.
