The funeral prayers of martyred Wing Commander Noman Akram was offered in Lahore on Thursday morning.

The prayers led by Maulana Tariq Jamil was attended by family members, civilian and military officials, friends and citizens.

Noman embraced martyrdom on Wednesday when the F-16 fighter jet, which he was flying, crashed near Islamabad while taking part in a rehearsal for March 23 Pakistan Day parade.

The people of Islamabad witnessed the aircraft going down and crashing on the ground with a loud bang after which a thick cloud of smoke billowed from the crash site.
