Pakistan skipper refuses to take rest against Afghanistan series

Pakistan Cricket Team’s captain Babar Azam has refused to take rest for the series against Afghanistan and wants to play the series, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

According to the sources, Babar Azam said he performed in PSL 8 and does not need rest.

It was reported by the media that PCB was planning to rest him for the 3-match series and it was expected that Shaheen Shah Afridi would be named as the stand-in captain.

There were also reports that youngsters like Saim Ayub, Azam Khan and Ihsanullah would be picked for the series, based on their performance in the PSL.

Babar Azam is the top ranked batters of Pakistan in the T20 Rankings and also the top scorers of PSL. 

He said it is not matter either lead Pakistan or Shaheen Shah Afridi but he 

was not consulted in this regard. The PCB did not contact him even, he disclosed. 

He believes that if he along with Rizwan Ahmad are given rest, it could affect the unity of the team.

The squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan is expected to be announced on March 13.
