PTI refused to register FIR for missing MPA

March 12, 2023 11:16 PM

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) senior leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi has claimed that the Karachi police have refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) against the lawmen for abducting PTI MPA Arslan Taj Hussain.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, Hussain is PTI's provincial lawmaker from PS-102 Karachi East 4 and secretary general of the city.

A day earlier, the MPA had censured Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, and also claimed that the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was, in fact, the "PPP's B team".

Hussain was apprehended by "men in plain clothes" from his residence in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the sources claimed.

Reacting to the kidnapping of PTI lawmaker, PTI MPA Firdous Shamim Naqvi has alleged that Arslan Taj has been arrested without a warrant.

“I have been to three police stations, but there is no one anywhere. The Gulistan-e-Johar police station refused to take the application,” he said in a video clip message viral on social media.

Naqvi added that Hussain’s family is worried at this time and the party will protest against his arrest.

He said that he will file a motion in the assembly against the attitude of police who are in no mood to register a report even about the incident.

“Arsalan Taj has been kept at an unknown location. The police are threatening the family of the leader.

“Rules are set before arresting a member of the assembly. I demand immediate release of Arsalan Taj,” the lawmaker said.

Naqvi on Sunday again approached Gulistan-e-Johar Police Station for registering a report.

He said once again the constitution of Pakistan has been violated in the police station.  The duty officer of Gulshan-e-Johar police station refused to take the report and register the FIR, Firdous Naqvi added.

“I am told that SHO is not there, I will come back for the FIR.” Firdous Naqvi said that two witnesses of non-receipt of application are with him, Rehan and Nadeem from my constituency. “I will raise my voice in the assembly against duty officer Abbasi,” he hinted.

The application has been submitted by Aziz Bhai police station only, Firdous Naqvi asserted.
