Balochistan mourns Duki massacre

Balochistan Governor Jafar Mandokhel said on Friday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would visit the provincial capital to share the grief of the Duki tragedy victims.

Gunmen killed 20 miners and injured another seven at a private coal mine in the Duki area of Balochistan. The killing of labourers is heartbreaking, the Balochistan governor said while addressing a press conference in the provincial capital.

Flanked by the chief minister and ministers, he expressed sympathy with the victim families, saying: “Today, Balochistan is mourning.”

He said that a worker is the sole breadwinner of a family, adding that the tragedy left a trail of devastation.

The governor said: “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ranged me and expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives.  Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will visit Quetta in a few days to extend his condolences to the bereaved families.”

He said the killers of labourers are not humans. They are beasts, he said adding that they have nothing to do with religion.

The prime minister too phoned the Balochistan governor and the chief minister and expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the loss of precious lives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic conversations with Governor Mandokhail and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and strongly condemned the terrorist attack.

He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude. He also prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.

Earlier the prime minister sought a report from the authorities concerned and reiterated his government’s resolve to purge the country of terrorism.

He expressed his resolve to uproot terrorism in all its forms. He also assured to provide all possible support to the families of the martyrs.
