Veteran actress Nadia Jamil has criticized directors in the industry for not showing the struggles of women and restricting the roles women actually play in society.
The actress said the Pakistani drama industry does not highlight real issues faced by people explaining how the dramas being produced nowadays are only based on women’s marriage issues, which she termed a ‘wrong’ depiction.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Turn on the TV nowadays & so many plays have women being slapped, beaten, emotionally abused & crying, pining pathetically 4 the narcissistic, sociopath who did it. Show women self-respect & men kindness TV dramas, they also exist you know. It’s not violent men being idolized.”
