Abbasi flays govt for denying public right to hold rallies, action against opposition

Awam Pakistan Party (AAP) chief Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has lamented that so-called democratic government was making legislations in haste to control public right to hold protest and rallies, adding that such acts used to be enacted during dictatorial times, reported 24newsHD TV channel.
Talking to media, former Prime Minister said that on September 8 the government gave permission to a political for a rally but bfore the start of the rally, the government blocked entire Islamabad.
He said it was undemocratic attitude that first give a party permission for rally and later impose conditions and block the entire city.
Abbasi said, “it is the right of the people to hold rallies, why are you afraid of meeting? The constitution allows masses to hold gathering”. Why you are passing blind and black laws former PM questioned.
He said moreover, in PTI rally, there were as talks on public issues rather abusive language was used against the government.
Talking about the statement given by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Abbasi said: "The KP CM had used inappropriate language during the public gathering."
The former premier said: "Right now, the country is facing pressure at every level. I had said that the polls will worsen the country's situation.". He lamented: "Why hasn't the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) been reached to date?"
Abbasi stated: "The pressure mounts on the country's economy and politics. We are neither doing nor thinking of what to do?" He said, "I would like to see the solution to the problems faced by the country."
He said that the government was afraid of opposition that is why the opposition party’s leaders has been put in jail. Abbsai suggested that if CJP Qazi Faiz Isa announce that he will not accept extension, he will be remembered for ever.
He said during hard time, it was test case for the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The former PM said that it is high time to solve the country's problems.
