3,000 Sikh Yatrees reach Lahore to participate in Baisakhi Mela celebrations

Around 3,000 Sikh Yatrees (devotees) arrived in Lahore via Wahga border crossing on Saturday to participate in the BaisakhiMela festivities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs, and other officials welcomed the devotees on arrival by showering rose petals on them.

Provincial Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan and Additional Secretary Shrines Rana Shahid Salim also accompanied the minister.

Drinks were also served to the visitors on the occasion.  

Welcoming the devotees, Arora said he hoped that his Sikh brothers and sisters would enjoy their stay in Pakistan. “Our priority is that none of our guests faces any inconvenience during his or her stay in the country,” the minister added.

The additional secretary informed that best possible arrangements had been made for the devotees.

Baisakhi Mela gets underway at Hassan Abdal

Foolproof security arrangements have been made as 1, 000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to provide security during the three-day celebrations of Baisakhi Mela that got underway at Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal on Saturday.  

The celebrations will continue from April 13 to April 15.

On April 15, the yatrees will leave Hassan Abdal for Nankana Sahib.
