Superstore in Lahore sealed for placing Haram candy on sale

One branch of a famous superstore has been sealed in Lahore on violation of rules when the Halal Development Authority on Saturday found boxes of a candy in the store which contains Haram ingredients in it, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Punjab Halal Development Agency raided a branch of Jalal Sons Stores in Lahore and found boxes of Nerds Grape and Strawberry candy which contains some Haram ingredients in it.
Halal Development Agency registrar Shoaib Jadoon said that carmine killer is used in the production of Nerds candy. He said the agency destroyed 119 boxes of the candy stacked in the store.
He further said that the store would be reopened only after it took corrective measures.
He said that the Halal certificate was mandatory for the sale of imported products. According to the rules of Halal Development Agency, the sale of products containing Haram ingredients is a serious crime and the agency could confiscate the property and business of the traders who sell Haram articles.
He said all convenience stores were allowed to sell only Halal products across the province and after the expiry of the deadline given to the traders for the removal of Haram articles, the agency has started its action against such stores.
