11 PTI leaders declared as proclaimed offenders in police vehicles burning case

The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore Tuesday declared 11 leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as proclaimed for their alleged involvement in the case of burning police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk on May 9, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


ATC court judge Abhar Gul Khan issued the order at the request of Inspector Iftikhar Ahmed, the investigating officer of Sarwar Road police station.


The PTI leaders who have been declared as proclaimed offenders include Mian Aslam Iqbal, Farrukh Habib, Azam Khan Swati, Hammad Azhar, Zubair Khan Niazi, Murad Saeed, Imtiaz Mehmood Sheikh, Hamid Raza, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi and Hafiz Farhat Abbas. They are accused of burning police vehicles and sedition at Rahat Bakery Chowk during a protest against the government.


The investigating officer said that the accused had gone into hiding to avoid arrest and that advertisements of the accused were also published by him. He requested the court to declare them as advertisers under section 87 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.


A case number 103/23 has been registered against the accused in Sarwar Road police station under various sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Pakistan Penal Code.
