Pakistani singer Shiraz Uppal has truly pushed the boundaries of music by blending it with technology.
Creating the 'first Indo-Pak' AI vocalist is such an innovative and exciting concept.
He created female AI singer Neha Gupta. Uppal utilized Neha's unique capabilities for his son Haadi Uppal's latest track, "Cheti Aa.".
The project required months of AI training to capture the essence of a female singer's timbre and tone. Uppal avoided mimicking popular voices like Shreya Ghoshal, instead opting for a "raw voice" similar to Indian singers Rekha Bhardwaj and Sunidhi Chauhan.

Shiraz revealed the reason for this creation in an interview.
The singer stated that he recognized the dearth of female voices in Pakistan compared to India and decided to bridge that gap by using technology. Despite the political tensions between the two countries, his aim is to make Gupta's voice heard globally, transcending boundaries and language barriers.
The response to Gupta's first song, "Cheti Aa," has been positive, and Uppal is open to creating more voices based on the feedback received.
Here are the exact words of the singer:
“There is a dearth of good female voices in Pakistan, while India is full of female voices. So, I decided to create a unique [female] voice that I could use as per my will.
This hasn’t been done in India yet.”
He further explained:
“If it were a Pakistani, Indians wouldn’t have gotten her to sing for them. If it were an Indian, Pakistanis would not have gotten her to sing for them, given the situation between the two countries.
For me, art has no boundaries.”

Uppal said Pakistani singers face the dilemma that their appeal among the masses increases tenfold when they work in India, which was why he decided to add Gupta, an Indian name that means guardian in Sanskrit, to Neha.
“Neha Gupta was the first name to come to mind,” he said.
"A male friend of mine sang in falsetto to mimic a female’s voice that was converted to Neha Gupta’s through AI. Gupta represents a middle-aged woman in her early 30s.”
Shiraz concluded it by saying:
"I can create 10 more voices, but right now, I am waiting for the response I get from Neha Gupta. If it’s very good, I would love to create new male and female voices.”

Netizens loved the voice, but at the same time, they feel scared considering how it’s going to disrupt the industry.
It's amazing to see how technology can enhance and transform the music industry.
It's a testament to the power of creativity and the endless possibilities that emerge when different cultures and technologies come together.
Kudos to Shiraz Uppal for pushing the boundaries and bringing something fresh to the music scene!
