Punjab cabinet mulls developing park near Mughal emperor’s mausoleum

Punjab Cabinet meeting held with Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in the chair on Thursday discussed the proposal to develop a park near the mausoleums of Noor Jahan and Jahangir in Lahore akin to Greater Iqbal Park, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The meeting also reviewed the project of restoration of Lahore’s 12 historical gates.
The chief minister gave a go ahead signal to Lahore Walled City Authority to start the project.
It was decided that the Authority’s experts would first do research before starting work on the project under which Taxali, Lohari, Shah Alami, Mochi, Akbari, Dehli, Yakki, Roshnai, Sheranwala, Masti Gate and other gates would be restored in phases.
CM Naqvi also ordered the removal of encroachments from the surroundings of these gates.
He said that LESCO would be approached for laying the electricity cables underground.
The chief minister also ordered the immediate removal of wall chalking and banners from Lahore’s historical places.
Similarly, he also ordered the restoration of Maryam Zamani Begum Mosque opposite to Shahi Qila and also the removal of encroachments from around it.
Lahore Walled City Authority DG briefed the meeting about the efforts being made for the restoration of historical places.
