Punjab cabinet okays massive hike in salaries of parliamentarians

The Punjab cabinet has approved increase in the salaries of members of the provincial assembly, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
After the Punjab cabinet approval, the salary of an MPA has been hiked to Rs500,000.
Moreover, salary of Speaker Punjab Assembly will be Rs1 million while Deputy Speaker’s salary will be Rs800,000.
Further, salary of provincial ministers will be Rs1 million each while parliamentary secretaries will get Rs600,000 each.
Similarly, salary of special assistants and advisors will be Rs700,000 each.
A bill regarding the raise in the salaries will be presented in Provincial Assembly for approval soon.
