Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for strictest measures to implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Lahore and elsewhere in Punjab to contain the spread of coronavirus.

TV channels quoting sources reported that the Prime Minister said the government has been going through a difficult situation but things were under control.

Radio Pakistan reported that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore on Saturday.

During the meeting, they discussed the overall situation of the province with particular reference to the steps taken to check the spread of coronavirus and elimination of locusts.

Earlier, instructions have been issued to all divisional commissioners to ensure implementation of precautionary measures and take strict action including imposing fines in case of violation.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at the Chief Secretary’s Camp Office Friday to review the situation of coronavirus, implementation of SOPs, and the artificial shortage of petrol.

Senior Provincial Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Industries Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal, Chief Secretary Punjab Jawwad Rafique Malik, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Commissioner Lahore, CCPO Lahore and officers concerned attended the meeting, whereas IG Punjab, Divisional Commissioners and RPOs participated through video link.
