The administration has failed to control the raging fire that erupted in the mountainous forest of Chitral even after the hectic efforts of three days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to details, the fire that is spreading in mountains is presenting an arduous task for the fire extinguishing efforts owing to the difficult path as there are only walking treks and no roads along the mountains.

Rescue officials informed that a blaze spread through the Beerair area of Lower Chitral due to unknown reasons. The officials are trying to put out the fire that is gutting trees in the mountains.

The rescue sources are of the view that it would take several days to extinguish the fire.

Last month on May 28, a fire erupted at Margalla Hills National Park at trail no 3 of the park. The fire spread fast to the surrounding localities while the firefighters made hectic efforts to douse it.

Islamabad Wildlife Board said that almost six acres of the forest had been affected by the fire destroying all fresh vegetation in the forests. “Insects and birds have been badly affected by the fire since this is their breeding season,” it explained.

The board said fires were deliberately lit at Margalla Hills, and it was the board’s desire to overcome this problem with the support of locals.
