Courts no more be locked up, IG Police increases judges' security in Punjab

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar said that the day-to-day locking of the courts under the guise of unnecessary protest was not acceptable. He released the order to increase the security of the courts and judges across the province.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar presided over a high-level meeting on security of courts and judges in which all RPOs, CPOs, DPOs, senior police officers of the province participated through a video link.
IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that the protection of the judiciary is the first priority and mockery of judges is not tolerated.
He said courts will be opened in any case and justice will be ensured in a peaceful environment.
The IG Punjab ordered RPOs, DPOs, concerned officers to conduct a security audit and revise the security plan of the courts keeping close coordination with court administration.
Dr Usman Anwar said the police personnel posted at the entrances and exits of the courts should be extremely alert, ensure checking, and continuously monitor the entrances and sides of the courts with the help of CCTV cameras.
He strictly advised the police officials never allow any person to bring weapons into the court premises.
According to the Punjab Police spokesman, Additional IG Operations Punjab Shahzad Sultan, MD Punjab Safe Cities Authority Ahsan Yunus, DIG Headquarters, DIG Operations Punjab, DIG Security Lahore, SSP Operations Lahore, and AIG Operations Punjab also attended the meeting.
